Based on personal experience, we’ve figured out that theatre is aimed more towards audience groupes rather than towards one uniform audience. Moments and spaces of mixity are very seldom. We often play for one tribe, or two. Each tribe has its own relations and contacts, its habits, its vision of scandal, its will to exist as a people. It’s at home. It’s agreeing to see as long as it’s not out of its depths; otherwise it sees no more, it disapears, and the performance disapears with it.
Our reality is an action often entwined to speech, and to writing. An action thus rendered possible by the creation of intervening tools which are renewed each time. The first proof of this statement is the multiple partnerships created with very heterogenous structures : festivals, neighbourhood associations, national stages, city councils, regional authority, citizens’ clubs, other companies, etc...
Dérézo has chosen to send round its performances from one network to another : from the associative field to the private shere, from citizen to institution, from the city to the countryside, from the cellar to the attic, from young to old, from politics to poetics...
As many contexts, as many people with as many visions capable of sharpening the pertinence of our « being here ». The tools invoqued, the trades attending, the genres gone through, the disciplins tackled are its forever-adapting testimony.
Transversality could be an attitude. An attitude that tends to unframe the creative potential by projecting it everywhere : on stage, indoors, outdoors, on the streets, for a lot of people, for very small crowds, in short formats and more formats, in other languages, with helmets, within contradictory networks, in live decors...
If we are transversal, we are poliphonic. As such, we work to give our diversity to those who can receive it. In order to do so, we must cultivate the art of "being here" and of saying "I".
We must take the risk in tracing signals that will enable us to be read and contradicted. If we are read, we exist. If we exist we can draw from our freedom.
